Still a dreamer…Old Memories and New Hopes

There are times, especially if you are prone to high emotions, that you experience love on a very spiritual level. Family, friends, or experiences. I was fortunate to have such a day and evening, and so grateful. I know everyone doesn’t have this in their lives, and I wish they did. First, I received an email from my dear niece in Virginia. Her daughter, my enchanting grandniece shared her fortune cookie with me…and who doesn’t read fortune cookies. This one said Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves. I experienced, and that is what I do, whenever I see a Woody Allen film, his latest, Blue Jasmine. Wonderful cast led by Cate Blanchett. The film was terrific, and I enjoyed, but it was the person I was with, that made the day and night so perfect. My son’s wife, I call her my “daughter in love,” and without getting overly personal, she is a daughter in every way but the birth process. She brings sunshine to the lives of others. We saw the coming attraction of the film Cutie and the Boxer. A New York love story that explores the chaotic 40 year marriage of boxing painter Ushio Shinohara and his wife Noriko. A line in the film “We’re like two flowers in one pot.” I do believe, feelings of overflowing love give you memories that last a lifetime.

Meaningful words…

“The sweetest songs yet remain to be sung.”………………and if I believe at 78, in the words of Walt Whitman, so shall you.

Mistake Sorry

Writing at 3am is a bit late, and mistakes are bound to happen. I quoted Oscar Wilde, and misspelled his play. ..this is corrected. “No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If he did he would cease to be an artist.” The Decay of Living……Thank you for understanding and hopefully you find good enough to read twice.

A dear friend gave me a copy and made the 6 hour train ride from Richmond, Virginia back home to NYC so pleasant. I would like to share some of my favorite quotes. A little background: Oscar Wilde was born in Ireland in 1864. He died in 1900 and wrote many brilliant witty plays and the following quotes come from his plays and his everyday thoughts.
…….”People sometimes equate what form of government it is most suitable for an artist to live under. To this question there is only one answer. The form of government most suitable to the artist is no government at all.” from The Soul of Man Under Socialism…..”No work of art ever puts forward views. Views belong to people who are not artists.”…..”No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If he did he would cease to be an artist.” from The Decay of Lying….”The true perfection of man lies, not in what man has, but in what man is.” “Women are meant to be loved, not to be understood.”—– “She looks like a woman with a past. Most pretty women do.” from An Ideal Husband. “Modern women understand everything except their husbands.”—– “I think that generosity is the essence of friendship.” from The Devoted Friend…………………………Thank you dear Tauran for your generosity. I’m glad you are in my life.

I correct… A favorite quote I credited Oscar Wilde with is “Fashion can be bought style one must possess.” words of Edna Woolman Chase…also writing at 3am made mistake in The Decay of Lying, not Decoy.

A New York Thing?

Walking on West 95th Street between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues, I came across a used tossed out huge navy blue couch on the sidewalk, surrounded by many garbage bags. A large sign placed right on the couch said SOFA..NO BEDBUGS. I swiftly walked away thinking a whole lot of trust would have to go into the decision of making that sofa your own…but in New York City, you never know…

A small world after all

Never ever gave a thought to exploring social networks. I thought foolish for me, more for my grandchildren, certainly not me. How very wrong I was. Always considered myself to be non judgmental and involved and evolved. I was brought up to give back to the community by my mother and I did, for over fifty years. We should know ourselves, and at 78, if I didn’t, who then? You shouldn’t arrive at “a certain age” without a degree of wisdom ,and the desire to inspire. Well, I must admit I was very wrong about the world of connecting and connection. In March, I started my blog mothernatureisaman.com, about observations and issues, not just involving women. We are, after all, so much alike when we think alike. It is five months later, and I have over 300 followers on twitter. Facebook, eighty-eight “friends.” Sadly, many of mine are deceased or not on computers. Discovering, and being part of the twitter world has become an integral part of my social network life, and brings me a sense of fun and joy. I have been welcomed by people of all ages and colors…from all parts of the world, and what a small world it is when connecting on an emotional level. No judging by age, color, or anything for that matter. If you’re spiritual, they will find you…vegetarians, here we are….believers and people of faith of course, non believers as well….singles, single moms, single dads, all business’s and professions represented,….animal lovers galore…LGBT community, straight community,….musicians of all genre’s,…comedians,…artists….the entire creative community, and the non creative groups. I’m sure I may have left out a few, and I apologize, so please feel free to weigh in, reply and add-on. What I didn’t find and looked for, were people in my age group…but that’s ok, because each and every one of you has given me a most satisfying and glorious experience. To inspire has been a goal and I have received validation enough to feel the joy of accomplishment. The world can be such a wonder filled peaceful place. Making a difference might be possible. I thank you all most sincerely.

Happy State of Mind?

A happy state of mind comes and goes ; a grateful feeling lasts forever. pm

Some lovely quotes……………..”The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.”………..”Find a place inside where there’s joy, and the joy will burn out the pain.”……..Love is friendship set to music.” Your sacred space is where you find yourself again and again”….all favorites and this for me is number one. “Follow your bliss and doors will open where there were no doors before.”

“When you wish upon a star. Makes no difference who you are. Anything your heart desires will come to you. If your heart is in your dream. No request is too extreme. When you wish upon a star. As dreamers do. Fate is kind. She brings to those who love. The sweet fulfillment of their Secret longing and more.” Words by Leigh Harline and Ned Washington from Disney 1940 Pinocchio. Ageless. How many of us wish upon the first star we see? How many of us emotionally experience the colors of the rainbow? We should never lose the childlike way to enjoy life. Not childish, but to see through the eyes of a happy child. Never ending joy.

Feather in the Wind

There are special times when you meet someone, and immediately, there is a connection, not specifically romantic, but emotional. Perhaps from the past if spiritual enough to understand the meaning. I do. I believe everyone comes into your life for a reason, and whether family or friends, in the best positive way. Building friendships can be the foundation to your well being….and then, there are the others, and their emotional bent is like a “feather in the wind.” But, I prefer “the others.”..and for me that is the definition of love.
