Still a dreamer…Old Memories and New Hopes

Happy Happy????

and for 2015…Good Health and Laughter Peace and Kindness…

Paulette's avatarmother nature is a man and other observations..

It seems to me that so much pressure is put upon us to be happy. In practicing the philosophy of Buddhism, happiness is a goal to attain. We all go through periods of life when happiness is impossible to feel. I realize it is perfectly fine not to feel happy all the time. Perhaps if born with a cheery personality, the feeling of happiness is easy. People are trying so hard to be happy, that they feel guilty not being happy all the time. Then, there are others who relish in their unhappiness. I prefer to use the description content or OK, and that is perfectly OK. There is much that contributes to happiness that I live by. A glorious feeling, although somewhat illusive. My brother , a psychiatrist for over 50 years said” patients look for a happy pill.” There is no such thing, if they dislike their life…

Paulette's avatarmother nature is a man and other observations..

Fortunately, I don’t need to lose weight. I have been eating healthy and doing yoga for over 35 years. What I would like to do is let go of some stuff. I live in a minimal contemporary setting with little or no clutter. What lurks are the things. Some I haven’t worn, some I will never wear, some I wear rarely, but they are part of me and I can’t part with them. I once designed a line of clothing called Sensuous Sweats. Casual very practical and timeless. I rarely if ever buy clothes, shoes, handbags etc etc. I have learned over the years to collect what I love, and go shopping in my closet. I think of myself as very low maintenance. If by some miracle, I met a new love, he would never have to buy me anything. The only wonderful luxury would be a woman masseuse to…

Another year, another time to remember, and another time to be forever grateful.

Paulette's avatarmother nature is a man and other observations..

The holidays, any holiday, but there are holidays, and then there is a holiday season. The holiday season is what I’m addressing. It’s that time of year, when applying behavior modification has to be very strong. By that I mean, think only of what I am grateful for, and not my voids. Controlling your thoughts may be one of the most difficult emotional tasks. It can be done, but requires work and energy. A favorite quote of mine is from the teachings of Nichiren Daishonin… “One should become the master of one’s mind rather than let one’s mind master him.” The words certainly seem easy enough, putting them into action, not so easy..The investment of effort brings positive results. First I try not to go back into my other life when the holiday season was full of joy and excitement. Festivities galore, topping it all off with a very formal…

A little metaphor based on Rainbow Bridge.
You see them all over town. On the ground, in the subway, on the bus, on top of the mailbox, outside a taxi, inside a taxi. A single glove just sitting there all alone. Sometimes covered in dirt, rain, or snow. No match in sight. Sad little glove. Actually they come in all sizes and colors. So this is a story about a lost glove. I am giving this one a personality. The glove felt useless because it was no longer in use. Nobody wanted one glove. The little glove had nowhere to go, but be put in a drawer and not be used again. The little glove wondered how it’s match was lost, it happened so fast. On a lap perhaps and fell off when someone stood up, left on a counter, fell out of a pocket? Oh well, how much time…

Holiday Time

Wishing everyone Holiday Greetings and all good wishes for the New Year.

I remember talking with friends about social networks, and how silly I thought they were. After all, none of my kids were on including two grandchildren. One grandson who just started college is on Twitter, but the rest, including friends, no. Perhaps they are all too old. Started my  blog, and through Twitter, Bershan Shaw found me and wanted me to write for URAWarrior and Bershan Shaw. A twitter friend,  a wonderful poet Sylvester Anderson is  also writing for her. I don’t follow many celebrities and I would never pay for followers. We all find each other. The heart , soul,  and intuition seem to be the compass.  Animal lovers galore and of course creative souls, business and professionals, healers of all types.

The magical quality is  diversity.. Lovely connections are formed, and there is a loyalty that some of us share. We never unfollow unless we are unfollowed.   I once knew a comedian.  He had a few followers, and the next thing I knew he had hundreds of thousands . He told me he paid for them, and sadly I judged him for having a lack of integrity. I mean who is impressed by that? I love the expression quality over quantity. Having 3,000 followers who either found me or I found them, is a lovely feeling because  when someone is inspired by my words,  my sense of purpose is strengthened. The world can be a scary crazy place at times, but so far, the experiences that I have had are life affirming that there are wonderful wonder-filled people out there in the Lovely Land of Twitter.

Many Feelings, No Words

I had the strangest day and evening and wanted to share my experience. Usually I have so much to say and not difficult for me to express myself…Now I am having difficulty.

I went to visit Edith, my 97-year-old friend..She is in pretty good shape and lives in a Senior Residence. She asked me to stay for dinner as she often does, but I am rarely able to stay. Tonight I was going to The Beacon Theatre on the Upper West Side, very close to where Edith lives. There is a New York Comedy Festival going on now, and Dane Cook was at The Beacon. He is one of today’s most prolific stand -up-comedians. Also an actor in a variety of film and television projects. One word, Hilarious. I went with my daughter in law and one word describing her, daughter.

I had dinner with Edith in the dining room and I was the youngest one in the room. One word, depressing.

Then I left to meet Stacey and we had a drink first, I needed one, and went just across the street to the beautiful Beacon Theatre. We, not just me, were the oldest by far in the entire theatre. One word, weird.

Dane Cook is not only very funny, but his intelligent comedy makes you think and laugh. Over an hour later, I took the bus back to my apartment. Many emotions, many feelings, but…….

No Words!!!!……………………………well maybe one….grateful

Trust Daisaku Ikeda

“Trust is difficult to earn and it is easily lost. The trust built over a decade can be shattered in an instant by one offhanded remark or deed. A person who is not swayed from their chosen path, even during the most trying times, will ultimately find that he or she is trusted by all.”………………………………..To trust and be trusted is priceless. pm

Wonderful Quote

Just read this on my Facebook page and not only do I believe in the words, they work for me. I count all my furry loves in this group as well.

” Everyone you have ever loved in your life becomes a part of your soul. They never leave. They’re always inside you, and you can bring them out whenever you want,”                  Nate Kenyon

A soul connected love never dies. The person may not be with you in the physical sense, but their energy and love never leaves  you and is most certainly a part of your life, every day and every night. If you believe in guardian angels, they are watching over you. Believing this way is a belief system that gives great comfort to those of us who don’t question, but exalt in memory and feelings. Once you have loved and been loved, you have experienced in life sheer joy. Celebrate and rejoice instead of feeling sad. It’s a much better feeling,

It “Fakes” A Blizzard

This post was originally posted on URAWarrior.

There are times when lazy is lovely. If able to take a time out, give yourself permission to do so. When you live in a 700 foot square  New York City apartment, and your environment is minimal, there can be no huge pile up of magazines and papers as a forever thing. Everything in its place is key. Physical chaos can cause emotional chaos.   Waking up one morning, and making the decision to hang in…A day at home is sorely needed. Staying in your sleep sweats….finishing chores, tackling the huge pile to read and then, destination garbage is a good plan.     A  day to create a mellow and calm exterior and interior for yourself. Peace of mind without guilt, essential

In reality, it is 75 degrees, no humidity, not a cloud in the lovely blue sky. A perfectly beautiful day. How can you stay in? Well, you produce your own tranquility by creating a make-believe blizzard. Darken the room with shades or curtains down. Cozy in by thinking snow storm,. Listen to the hail and wind beating against your windows, and thank your lucky stars you aren’t going to slip on that horrid ice.

If, at the end of the day, you feel less stressed, more relaxed with a surge of productivity, you can smile, perhaps, with a glass of wine and actually say, “I deserved this day.” and you are guaranteed 100%  a tomorrow with absolutely no ice and snow.

Rejoice!!!!!
