Still a dreamer…Old Memories and New Hopes

There are so many wise quotes to select, but certain ones just seem to do the trick for me. Actually not a trick, but a working self therapy. Hope some of these find their way to you as well.

“Friends….They cherish one another’s  hopes. They are kind to one another’s dreams.” Henry David Thoreau

“Gratitude is one of the most medicinal emotions we can feel. It elevates our moods and fills us with joy.” Living Positive

“What people call serendipity sometimes is just having your eyes open.” Jose Manuel Barroso

“There will  always be serendipity involved in discovery.” Jeff Bezos

“Love is, above all,  the gift of oneself.” Jean Anouith

“I had a second birth when my soul and my body loved one another and were married.” Kahlil Gibran

Just a few to ponder………. In April I will be having a milestone birthday that I will address when the cold eases and spring has arrived. Seems more appropriate to write about that coming of age when life is budding , than in the freezing barren  winter. One thing I have learned over the years is how to take care of myself. If one is fortunate to have good health……… then most of the time, you can heal yourself, emotionally and physically. Not all of course, but enough where  holistic healing and nutritional caring give back to you. Since my husbands sudden death over ten years ago, I began the quest for emotional housecleaning and wrote Friendship Garden. Necessary to surround yourself with positive people. You nourish each other. I try very hard to weed the toxic plants,  leaving just emotional beauty. I cherish my family and friends, and the bonus??? The feelings come right back. Toxic people are just plain toxic to themselves and others. . Positive over the negative. The ones who “get you” are  keepers. Be very careful who you let in.  I have always said the heart and  brain must work together as a team. One without the other is lost, and doesn’t work very well. At my age, to have people call you wise is a compliment beyond description. Wisdom doesn’t  automatically arrive at the same time as age. That is not a given. Wisdom is using  life’s experiences, knowledge, good judgement, and common sense. To be inspiring is to be joyful.

For the New Year, may we all use wisdom in our judgements and learn to trust our intuition. For those who believe…….that  ” thing” called intuition?  Our guardian angel whispering.

Friendship Garden

Nourishing plants thrive in your Friendship Garden

Paulette's avatarmother nature is a man and other observations..

Friends are like beautiful plants.  You nourish and cherish…but then, what happens when even friendships of over 50 years don’t work any more…no fighting or arguments, just too many differences the years have brought…..what to do? Just like a Garden of Love, the toxic plants must be removed to allow new growth. For every toxic person you let go of, a new free of hostility friend will come into your life..the same way you do physical cleaning, emotional cleansing is just as important.  It’s not the years of a friendship, that really count as much as the quality of understanding and compassion for one another. Letting go does get easier since you are letting go of negative energy ,and making room for all that is positive. Your Garden of Love will be a visual and emotional place of beauty and serenity.

I guess a New York Thing

Paulette's avatarmother nature is a man and other observations..

I often wonder what is on the ceiling of the elevator, when people are all looking up at the ceiling, or eyes fixed on the numbers .making sure the elevator is stopping at their floor. Not too much social interaction, so after moving to New York, I didn’t find anything of interest on the ceiling and I did trust the elevator not to get stuck…so my method is this…upon entering, a lovely smile, but no verbal interaction. Saving that for last..Upon leaving a simple “enjoy your day or night” seems to work.

Mistakes???? Now what????

It seems to me, that the New Year triggers many emotions. I quote a Russian Proverb…..”Longing for the past is like chasing after the wind.” Not the best way to live. I work very hard to live in the moment. Takes energy to discipline your mind not to go to places that cause you stress. Over thinking causes more over thinking, and then obsessing takes your energy away, and serves no purpose whatsoever. We should grow beyond our mistakes. Then we take the power from the mistake and empower ourselves…..giving us the power to turn them into our life’s learning  process. Your golden opportunity to create wisdom.

Alone…..Not lonely Day…Went to a film with two good friends. Early  supper and several hours of intelligent conversation about many subjects.  In New York City, social energy is  there and contagious, especially when with women who have something to say. We didn’t solve any of the worlds  problems….not even NYC issues. Night…My son and “daughter” went to Carolines on Broadway, a terrific comedy club for the early show. They asked me to stay over and celebrate with them and a few couples. A lovely invitation even though I had made earlier plans  with Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper , watching the show with Lucky, my Havenese love.  I did my thing and wanted them to do theirs with friends. I did manage to come out of the bedroom to share in welcoming the New Year with champagne. I am forever grateful to have family a crosstown bus away. Later That…

Memories of formal New Years Eve Galas at the club. Another life time ago. Remembering now without the same pain. Remembering now with gratitude that my memories no longer haunt, but comfort me. My thoughts for the New Year?  Keep going forward. And for all who are reading this, may 2015 bring you all that you wish for yourself. Happy New Year!

Continue to dream the dream

Paulette's avatarmother nature is a man and other observations..

I have never been a fan of making resolutions. Like most diets, they are broken rather quickly. A very simple rule is reigning in the missing dwell. My husband and the life we lived together. Concentrating less on the voids and filling those wells of sadness with what I have in my life. Occasionally, the pity party invitation arrives, whether welcomed or not, but I have learned, not to stay too long. I have my glorious memories and his energy and spirit for life. Going through the motion with no emotion is not emotionally healthy, and that is the time for the grateful list to come out. You don’t necessarily have to write it all down, but if it helps, go for it. I do quietly in my mind, and then realize it is so much longer than the other list, and just like that, a down mood lifts and…

Wonderful Quote

Paulette's avatarmother nature is a man and other observations..

Just read this on my Facebook page and not only do I believe in the words, they work for me. I count all my furry loves in this group as well.

” Everyone you have ever loved in your life becomes a part of your soul. They never leave. They’re always inside you, and you can bring them out whenever you want,”                  Nate Kenyon

A soul connected love never dies. The person may not be with you in the physical sense, but their energy and love never leaves  you and is most certainly a part of your life, every day and every night. If you believe in guardian angels, they are watching over you. Believing this way is a belief system that gives great comfort to those of us who don’t question, but exalt in memory and feelings. Once you have loved and been loved, you have experienced in life…

Heartfelt Thanks

New Beginnings for all

Paulette's avatarmother nature is a man and other observations..

At this beginning of this New Year, I would like to thank everyone that reads my blog. If you follow, or read on other social networks, I thank you most kindly for supporting me, and as Sally Fields once said, “liking me.” and the bonus is when you leave a comment, or I am notified on email. The creative process is a combination of the agony and the ecstasy. Most creative people have somewhat of a soul connection to each other. We often experience life in a very different way. Our senses are enhanced and our dreams are often unrealized. I have had articles published, but as yet the 80,000 word women’s humor fiction novel has yet to be. I have a co-author, and we are doing some editing, and hope to submit again soon. We thought about self publishing since there is no stigma against. A self published author…
